A fine pair of 6-inch (15.2cm.) diameter miniature table globes , the terrestrial SMITH'S TERRESTRIAL GLOBE showing the latest discoveries to the present time LONDON C. SMITH & SON, 172 Strand made up twelve chromolithographed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the meridian not shown, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with sigils, the oceans with an analemma and the tracks of Cook's three voyages (faintly), the continents in yellow and showing national and state boundaries, rivers, mountains and towns and cities (old discrete circular repair around most of the Pacific Ocean); the celestial SMITH'S CELESTIAL GLOBE LONDON SMITH & SON, 63 CHARING CROSS made up of twelve printed yellow gores and two polar calottes laid to the celestial poles, the equatorial graduated in degrees, hours and minutes, the colures graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with sigils, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures, the stars to several orders of magnitude but with no key and mostly labelled with Greek characters; both spheres with simple unengraved brass meridian half circle, raised on a baluster turned mahogany column and wide circular plinth base -- 9¾in. (24.8cm.) high
