A rare 12½in. (31.8cm.) diameter terrestrial globe made up of twelve chromolithographed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial and meridian of Paris graduated in degrees, the ecliptic not shown, the oceans with ocean currents, isothermal lines, the Sargasso Sea and submarine cable lines, Antarctica showing Enderby Land, Kemp Island, Adelie Land, Balleny's Island and Victoria Land and marked around the pole RÉGIONS INEXPLORÉES, the continents with the Americas and Australasia in green, Europe, Asia and Africa in yellow, showing national and state boundaries, towns, cities, rivers and mountains (some old marks) with brass finial, raised on a simple turned tapering ebonised column and plinth base -- 21in.
