Lot Essay

The Venini glassworks published a catalogue in the 1940s, commonly referred to as the "blue catalogue," which included sketches of many of their most important models of production accompanied by information concering dates and techniques. Works in the tagliato tondo technique were typically realized in the form of floor lamps, as depicted in the "blue catalogue" as no. 531 and no. 533. The present lot is one of the very few tagliato tondo pieces known to exist in vase form.
