Lot Essay

During the revolution in Paris in 1871, Boudin thought of joining Daubigny, Pissarro, Monet and other artist friends who had fled to London. But, instead, he went to Belgium, first to Brussels and then to Antwerp where he arrived for a six-week stay between 5 July and 20 August 1871.
