拍品專文

The present painting is part of a series of still-lifes executed in the early Twenties, and relates to the celebrated painting, Nature morte au chou, which is located in the Kröller-Müller museum in
Otterlo. These still-lifes were assembled by Ensor in his studio with great care and precision. The domestic objects (vase, bottle, glass, and drapes) often occupy similar positions in Ensor's compositions; the cabbage's position in the composition, on the other hand, is not arranged with such care, and is placed randomly in the picture as if by chance.

To be included in the forthcoming addendum to the Ensor catalogue raisonné currently being prepared by Xavier Tricot.
