Lot Essay

Violet's friend Hélène Terré escaped to England to join De Gaulle upon the fall of France. Due to a series of errors she was interned in Holloway prison where Violet visited her frequently. Finally liberated, she joined General de Gaulle and played a significant role in the Free French movement, accompanying the General to Paris upon the liberation.
