Document, in cyrillic, signed 'Ekaterina', from St. Petersburg, 1 October 1773, 1½pp, folio, to Ferdinand I, announcing the marriage of her son Grand Duke Paul Petrovitch to his first wife Nathalia Alexeievna (born Princess Wilhelmina de Hesse-Darmstadt) on 29 September [new style 10 October], countersigned by Prince Alexandre Galitzin (creased on folds, slight staining), with original addressed envelope and paper seal (seal tears, some staining and creasing).

Lot Essay
The marriage between Grand Duke Petrovich and his new wife was shortlived. Nathalia Alexeievna died on 15 April 1776, without children.
