ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE, autograph postcard, signed 'A. Conan Doyle', from 15 Buckingham Palace Mansions, [postmarked 1929], 12°, to Mr Roughead, merely bearing the cryptic message, 'I am sorry but it is quite out of the question' (slightly stained, reverse with loss, not affecting address).
JAMES MATTHEW BARRIE, autograph letter, signed 'J.M. Barrie', from Kinnemuir, 26 September, 3pp, 8°, to Miss White, regarding a recent visit (creased on folds, spotted, some small tears and losses).
HILAIRE BELLOC, autograph letter, signed 'Auctor', from 104 Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, 10 January 1903, 2pp, 8°, in response to a letter in Latin verse sent to him after reading The Path to Rome, 'What a good thing if books were living things between living people'...'I wish I could really write Italian verse!' (spotted, creased on folds).
RIDER HAGGARD, autograph letter on mourning paper, signed 'H. Rider Haggard', from Thetford, 23 April [18]93, 2pp, 8°, to the Editor of the Times, placing his father's obituary notice (split across centre fold with loss)
EDMUND BLUNDEN, nine lines, signed 'E.Blunden', mentioning Shelley, Keats, Tennyson, Charles Lamb and says 'I look forward to Coleridge'.
COVENTRY PATMORE, one-page autograph letter, signed 'C.Patmore', from Battle, 14 June 1888, to Garnett, thanking him for Panizzi's reports and the guide book, with envelope (creased on folds).
With letters by William Allingham, William Ernest Henley, James Russell Lowell, Caroline Norton, Charles Norton, Jane Porter (a ballad entitled 'Earl Morie'), Arthur Quiller Couch and Israel Zangwill, amongst others.
