A Georgian Officer's Sabretache of the 7th Hussars
A red leather sabretache, the scarlet cloth flap 13½in. deep, edged on three sides with 2¼in. gold lace of regimental pattern (as 1900 DRs, No 46) and bearing gold Guelphic crown above the reversed and intertwined CR cypher of Queen Caroline; retaining its three billets, each with a gilt lion's-head buckle, and black foul-weather cover, the pocket of the sabretache containing two cards 6in. x 4½in., one of them inscribed Words of Command and Instructions for the Ten Divisions of the Sword Exercise/Chester Castle 8th October 1826, with details of the sword exercises in manuscript

Lot Essay

This sabretache belonged to Cornet Robert Doyne who was commissioned into the 7th Hussars in 1825, and whose uniform was sold as Lot 70 in Spink's sale on 27th July 2000.
