Lot Essay

Private James Henry Edwards was born in the Parish of Clay Cross, Derby and enlisted in the Derby Regiment in May 1884, aged 19 years. Joining the 2nd Battalion in November 1885, he sailed for the East Indies in the following month and went on to witness active service in the Sikkim operations of 1888. Edwards returned to the U.K. in May 1890 and was discharged on his return as a result of epilepsy.
