Lot Essay

Bombardier George Carr was born in Wandsworth, London and enlisted in the Royal Artillery in November 1894, aged 19 years. He subsequently served in India between October 1896 and July 1900, including participation in the operations on the North West Frontier between 1897-98, and in China between July and November 1900, including participation in the Relief of Pekin operations. Returning to India, Carr was advanced to Bombardier in September 1905 and was finally discharged back in the U.K. in November of the following year.
