Sold with Lieutenant de Smidt's original 'Officers' Record of Services' booklet and a number of 'Pips', Medallions and a pair of Cufflinks.

Lieutenant Theodore John Smidt was born in September 1890 and was a farmer in South Africa prior to enlisting on the outbreak of hostilities. Subsequently employed in the operations in German South-West Africa from August 1914 until September 1915, he was commissioned in December 1915. De Smidt went on to serve in the 3/1st Staffordshire Yeomanry in the Egypt Expeditionary Force and was present in operations in Palestine under Allenby; see Lot 2 for further memorabilia and documentation appertaining to the recipient's military career.
