Captain and Quarter-Master C.H. Makeham, M.B.E., was appointed to a Regular Army Emergency Commission in the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers as a Lieutenant and Quarter-Master in October 1939, and was advanced to Captain and Q.M. in November 1942.
