The success of the first monocoque generation of Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars was legendary, the company finally abandoning traditional chassis construction in 1965. Aimed squarely at the growing North American market, sales of the Shadow and T1 continued for twelve years before the company revised the design with the updated Series II models, which were distinguishable externally by their rubber bumpers and deeper radiator grille.

In August 1977 Lancer Boss Group Ltd of Leighton Buzzard, in Bedfordshire ordered this T2 from Alec Norman (Garages) Ltd for £22,434.81. Specifying pewter paintwork, green leather interior and Cumberland stone carpets, the car was delivered in early January 1978.
Unfortunately, subsequent history is unknown until the vendor purchased the Bentley approximately 4 years ago. Upon acquisition, the car was sent to Jack Barclay, for them to refurbish the car at a cost of over £12,000, this was completed with the mileage standing at 89,102 miles. A year later the car returned to Jack Barclay for a Tracker system to be fitted.

When a Christie'’s specialist inspected the car the mileage has risen to just over 90,000, only 1,800 miles since Jack Barclay had worked on it, so now owing to the lack of use, the sale of the car is necessitated. Although unused for the past two years, we expect it to be offered with a new MOT at the time of sale, and we would recommend a thorough service be carried out before committing the car to everyday road use.
