1759, one base with blue interlaced L's enclosing date letter G , painter's mark and incised cn, the other base incised, the other vase incised cn
Of the fifth size, the flared upper parts of quatrefoil section painted with four blue garlands of flowers, one enclosing puce and the other rose camaïeu figures of Cupid among clouds, the reverses with trophies allegorical of love and the performing arts, between shaped gilt dentil, blue line and gilt dash rims, the stands with waisted shoulders with pierced blue-edged apertures, the sides similarly decorated to the vases between gilt line borders and on four short splayed feet, (some wear to gilding, chipping to upper rims, one with small chip to two feet, other with minute fritting to feet)

Lot Essay

According to David Peters, Decorator and Date Marks on 18th Century Vincennes and Sèvres Porcelain, London, 1997, this painter's mark was attributed to A. Rocher in a 19th Century publication; however, there is currently no evidence to support this attribution.
