Lady Charlotte Hill born on 19 March 1754 was the 3rd daughter of William, 1st Marquess of Downshire. On 7 May 1776 she married John Chetwynd-Talbot, 1st Earl Talbot (1749-1793). Countess Talbot was painted by Sir Joshua Reynolds (London, Tate Gallery) and Thomas Gainsborough and John Hoppner (New Zealand, Dunedin Public Art Gallery). There is another pastel of the sitter by Daniel Gardner, in the collection of C.J. Conway, Turville Court.
