CONTEMPORARY OXFORD BINDING of blindtooled calf with pineapple ornament and floral roll tool (Oldham ESB FL.a(3) and H.9(a)), remains of 2 brass fore-edge clasps on lower cover (scuffed, rebacked). Provenance: J. Ashelok, Oxford graduate, BA 1521, rector of Beckington, Somt., d.1577 (Emden, BRUO 16 p.15), contemporary inscription with price (4 shillings) on title, some marginal annotations and underlining; Matthew Davis, late 16th-century inscription on title.
