Engraved title, 36pp letterpress with list of maps, 6pp list of subscribers, 108 engraved maps, hand-coloured in outline, mounted on guards, comprising 12 maps of the ancient world and 96 of modern geography. (Occasional light spotting to margins.) Contemporary cat's paw calf, spine gilt in compartments (upper cover worn, joints cracked head and tail). Provenance: Easton Neston Library (shelf-label).
In this copy the maps of the post roads are not bound at the end but incorporated into the sequence of European countries. A printed list of contents corresponding to this arrangement is pasted to the inner edge of the upper cover. Nordenskiöld 245; NMM 266.
