Vols.I-LVIII only bound in 37 volumes, 8° (222 x 144mm). 3 uncoloured engraved plates, 3122 hand-coloured engraved plates, 264 folding. (Very occasional light browning, a few plates almost detached, stitching loose on some early volumes.) Contemporary half russia, red morocco lettering-piece on flat spines (scuffed, extremities chipped, some spines darkened).
FIRST EDITION. A significant selection from probably the most famous of all botanical periodicals, a publication which still continues today. Cf.Stafleu & Cowan 1290 and Nissen BBI 2350. (37)
