FIRST EDITION. Wood, writing of the 1829 edition: "A fundamental work of reference for students of mammalian life." The plates are drawn "après nature" by Nicolas Huet, "peintre de la ménagerie" of the Empress Josephine, and engraved by his brother J.-B.Huet. BM (N.H.)
