Volumes I-X only (of 23), 8° (245 x 164mm). 959 lithographic plates, 911 hand-coloured or finished by hand (131 of these double-page or folding). (Some plates with browning, spotting or offsetting, one folding plate torn.) Contemporary green half-morocco gilt (rubbed).

A good selection, including a significant number of orchids, in generally fine condition. The uncoloured plates include a number of views of China, Brazil and elsewhere. The periodical was founded by Van Houtte and did not long survive his death; the 23rd and final volume appeared in 1883. The first volume was issued with text in French, German and English and originally limited to 500 copies, the remaining volumes were in French only and limited to 1500 copies. Cf.
