the first, sinew and thread sewn, beaded in green, white heart red, and two shades of blue on a hide ground, each decorated with floral and geometrical elements on the vamp, printed cotton cloth on top edge, rawhide soles; the second, a child's pair, sinew sewn, in white heart red and two shades of blue on a hide ground, each decorated with a cross motif on the vamp, lined with woven cotton cloth, hard soles with red, green, yellow and blue pigments, hide ties

Provenance
Originally gifted in the 1880s to Reverend Holter, an itinerant preacher in the vicinity of Sioux Falls, SD, for performing religious ceremonies. Decended through the Holter family to the present owner.
