A WALKING STICK PRESENTED TO CHARLES TOOP BY WILLIAM F. CODY
Charles Toop was a trombonist who toured Europe with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in 1904. During the tour, Cody's bandleader became ill, and Charles Toop led the orchestra until the bandleader could return. In appreciation, Cody presented this cane to Mr. Toop, which is insribed To Charles Toop from Buffalo Bill Cody on the cane's silver knob.

Provenance
Charles Toops was born in 1865 and died in 1950. A few years before his death he gave his treasured cane to the consignor's father. An article was published in the local newspaper upon Toop's death with a brief history of his life, which will accompany this lot. This cane was given to the consignor's father by Charles Toop shortly before his death,
