SID BERNSTEIN DESK
A large office desk made of oak with three drawers and two pull-out returns on either side used by legendary concert promoter Sid Bernstein. In his New York office since the early 1960s, this utilitarian piece of furniture has literally been the 'foundation' of many celebrated entertainment events as artists, managers, promoters and producers have all signed contracts and other documents on it over the decades. Some of the luminaries that came into contact with this special desk include The Beatles, their manager Brain Epstein, Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Ray Charles, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Judy Garland, Shirley MacLaine, Frank Sinatra, Woody Allen, Barbra Streisand and Johnny Cash among many others. If this desk could only talk! A signed letter of provenance from Sid Bernstein authenticating this lot is included as well.
