GENE KELLY ARGYLE SWEATER FROM "SINGIN' IN THE RAIN"
MGM, 1952
A tan, red and navy blue wool argyle sweater with a v-neck and long sleeves worn by Gene Kelly in the scene where he runs up to the director at Monumental Pictues and says he wants to be a stunt man.
Provenance
This piece was bought in the sale after the famous 1970 MGM Auction when the David Weisz Company decided to sell the remainder of the Hollywood costumes just off the rack, first come-first served. Unfortunately, our consignor took this sweater to the drycleaners in the 1970s where they lost the original studio tag that had Kelly's name on it.
