A Russian silver-gilt coffee service
Maker's mark of Karl Fabergé, St. Petersburg, late 19th Century
Comprising: an oblong tray with incurved corners and reeded border, with a band of vertical chasing and rocaillework, the centre engraved with a crowned monogram ES and the dates 1847 14 Mai 1897; a small coffee pot, cream jug and sugar bowl, each shaped hemispherical with incurved corners chased with acanthus, part fluted, on four cast foliate feet, with foliage-capped angular handles, the coffee pot with hinged slightly domed panelled cover with ball finial; a gilt spoon, thread and foliate pattern with husking to reverse of bowl, inscribed with crowned monogram ES; a pair of gilt sugar tongs, of similar pattern and monogram; also two porcelain demitasse cups and saucers with green and red borders, apparently unmarked; all in a lined and fitted case with a bronze plaque inscribed as the tray
