Maker's mark of Johann Friedrich Ehe, Nuremberg, 1787-1790
Set on a circular domed base chased with rocaille ornament, octagonal knobbed stem, the partly fluted octagonal tulip-shaped bowl decorated with flowerheads, gilt interior, the lip finely engraved with contemporary, partly abbreviated, Hebrew inscription relating to the Passover: "Seven days thou shall eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the Lord" (Ex. 13:6)
