The design of this tripod is taken from the Roman prototype in the collection of the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Naples. Copies were popular in the 19th century and were produced for decorative as well as practical uses. One example was manufactured for the baptism of the King of Rome in 1811. Another, made entirely of ormolu and lapis lazuli, was presented by the people of Milan to the Empress Marie-Louise. This example is illustrated in Vergoldete Bronzen, Ottomeyer/Pröschel, Klinkhardt & Biermann, plate 5.19.1
Chiurazzi's model appears as number 150 in the 1900 catalogue and is described as a Trépied isiaque
