Harlan Estate--Vintage 1995
Napa Valley
In original wooden case
"The 1995 is one of the vintage's most provocative wines. The toasty pain grillé nose also incorporates copious amounts of roasted coffee, tobacco, smoke, and black currants. The wine, which tasted like a hypothetical La Mission-Haut-Brion/Chateau Margaux blend with the elevated ripeness and fruit of California, requires 5-7 years of cellaring; it will keep for 25+ years. It is full-bodied, with a terrific texture, compelling flavor integrity and ripeness, and superb overall equilibrium. Much of this wine will be sold to the winery's mailing list customers. If you miss out on the 1994, try and get on the waiting list for future vintages. While perfect wines are few and far between, history has taught me that wineries with such lofty aspirations as Harlan Estate will continue to push the envelope quality." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, Issue 114, 12/19/97
