CAYUSE
Winemaker Christophe Baron is one of the rising stars in Washington's Walla Walla Valley. Specializing in Rhóne varietals, his two Syrahs, "Cobblestone" and "Walla Walla Valley", have earned him praise from Wine Spectator and recognition from The New York Times. His Cobblestone Vineyard is made up entirely of stones similar to those of Châteauneuf-du-Pape which give his wine elements of minerality and elegance. His 1998 production of "Cobblestone" is limited to only 291 cases of bottles and 4 double-magnums. Proceeds from his double-magnum will be donated to the Walla Walla YWCA.

"Well-extracted, dark purplish-garnet color. Elegantly structured with slight floral and juicy black cherry scents. A velvet blanket of anise, tobacco, cedar, black olives and delicate minerals wrap around the tongue. Its unique terroir presents itself through an incredible lingering finish. La race des seigneurs. A racy wine."
