BLOCK 42, KALIMNA
A Penfolds 'Special Bin' red produced in the tradition, established by Max Schubert, of making small-batch 'experimental' wines and sourced from the Block 42 of the Kalimna Vineyard in the Barossa Valley. This section, of the much larger Kalimna, was planted between 1886 and 1888. Penfolds believes it is the oldest continuously-producing Cabernet vineyard in the world.

" Medium-full red /purple. Tight, dark chocolate, berry fruit with touches of cedar. Palate is plush and beautifully proportioned with perfectly ripened Cabernet fruit - essence of cassis and blackberries - finely-grained tannins, well-integrated cedar, vanilla oak, and a very long finish. Elemental and brooding; but carries the hallmarks of a classic."
