KIM CRAWFORD
After having spent years making wine for others, Kim Crawford decided to go out on his own. In 1996, he created his own label, Kim Crawford Wines specializing in Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Recently he has added a list of premium wines which pay homage to New Zealand's Maori hertitage. Tané Dry Red, meaning 'Lord of the Forest', is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc from Hawke's Bay. Pia Dry White, named after Kim's daughter which also means 'Pious' in Maori, is 100 Chardonnay from Hawkes Bay and Gisbourne. Both are produced only in exceptional vintages. Production is very limited with only 100 cases available in the U.S.
