Carved Pinewood Corn Exchange Sign, in the form of a corn stook

Corn Exchanges in England were the buildings in a city or town where merchants sold corn. They would commonly have had a trade-sign like the present one hanging outside the building. The motif of a corn stook was used as the logo for the Paul Mellon Collection.
