A ROMAN CARNELIAN AND GOLD PENDANT
Circa 2nd-3rd Century A.D.
The circular stone with tapering sides, engraved with Jupiter enthroned, a mantle draped around his legs, supporting Victoria with a crown in his outstretched hand, a scepter in the other hand, an eagle at his feet, the stone perforated and threaded with a gold wire, one end with a sheet collar terminating in an inverted pyramid of granulation, the other end coiled into a loop and joined to a ribbed tube
