Lot Essay

The sitters were the daughters of Roger Hele of Holwell, Devon. Juliana (1705-94) married twice, firstly Peregrine, Viscount Dunblane, afterwards 3rd Duke of Leeds, as his third wife, and secondly Charles Colyear, 2nd Earl of Portmore (1700-85). Her sister, Charity, married the Rt. Hon. George Treby, of Plympton.
