AN EGYPTIAN BRONZE FINIAL OF SELKET
Third Intermediate Period, Dynasty XXI-XXV, 1070-664 B.C.
The cylindrical shaft supporting a plinth upon which sits the anthropomorphic scorpion goddess crouching on her elbows, her arms extended, the tail in striking position, wearing a tripartite wig surmounted by a uraeus, the plinth inscribed on the front and the proper right side with a single line of hieroglyphic text reading, "May...grant life to..."
