Attributed to the Edinburgh Painter, Circa 500 B.C.
With "Peleus bringing Achilles to Chiron," the hero's father with long hair and a beard, clad in a short chiton, mantle and petasos, holding two spears in his left hand, and extending his right hand to the wise old centaur, depicted with the full body of a man joined to the hindquarters of a horse, with a red beard and a fillet in his long hair, wearing a patterned white chiton and a mantle, holding a branch in his left hand, with Achilles standing beneath their clasped hands, holding two spears and a wreath, and Chiron's mother Philyra standing to the left, a vine in her hand; a net pattern above the scene, six palmettes on the shoulders, and short vertical lines at the base of the neck, with details in added red and white
