AN ATTIC RED-FIGURED KYLIX
Attributed to Douris, Circa 480-470 B.C.
The tondo with a bearded man standing on a thin groundline before an altar, a fillet in added red in his hair, wearing a himation draped over his left shoulder and arm, his right arm projecting forward, his hand resting on the top of a walking stick, the voluted altar on a tiered base, the front portion of a chair or kline to the left, a sponge hanging above, with an inscription reading chairestratos kalos in added red above and on the altar, the exergue blank, repaired in antiquity
