A ROMAN MARBLE HEAD OF HERCULES
Circa 1st Century A.D.
Based on a Greek original of the 4th Century B.C. by Lysippos, his hair a series of short wavy locks bunched in the center of the forehead and above the ears, a twisted fillet encircling his head and tied at the nape of the neck, his recessed almond-shaped eyes with thick brow, the full beard with large curls, his small fleshy lips slightly parted, the head turned to the right
