On an integrally carved wood base; the reverse of the throne hollowed out and with paper label indistinctly inscribed '19ii/...Boslar.../...'; the bottom inscribed in red ink 'Wolff-Limper 294 cirka 1930 gek.' and several paper labels including one inscribed 'Ausstellung für christliche Kunst Düsseldorf 1909 689 (?)' and another inscribed '294'.
Some distress to gilding and polychromy; minor worming and losses.

A similar example can be found in the Gruuthusemuseum, Bruges, dating to circa 1420 which depicts the Virgin with similar proportions, warm facial features and an animated Christ Child (Dider and Krohm, loc. cit.).
