These extremely rare bottles are well known to the Château having formerly been part of the magnificent cellar of the Coq Hardy Restaurant at Bougival near Paris. The bottles were re-corked by Lafite's maître du chais in 1953 and then again thirty years later in 1983. Due to this diligence and the excellent storage in which the wines have been kept, the bottles remain in fabulous condition. Copies of the correspondence between the restaurant and Château concerning the 1983 re-corking are included with each bottle.

Château Lafite-Rothschild--Vintage 1784
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
Old hand-blown bottle. Modern metal Château capsule, worn. Bin-soiled and faded label. Level base of neck.
The greatest vintage of the period. Tasted at Flatt's Lafite tasting, Oct 1988. Ullaged. Intensely dark colour, like an old style brown sherry; an astounding smell, pure balsamic vinegar; yet still sweet, intense with high extract. MB GVWBII
