A French faience rectangular ink-stand
Circa 1760, perhaps Sceaux
Of rectangular form with slightly tapering sides, the front with a rectangular compartment before an oval and two circular compartments, moulded with foliage at the intersections, the interior of the front compartment painted with insects flanking a bouquet, the back applied with seated farm-boys and farm-girls, one girl reclining on a rock issuing running water (hats of right-hand couple with sections restuck, chipping to feet and foliage, flaking to glaze, front rim with over-painting)
