Lot Essay

This form of casket appears to be unrecorded. It would appear to be an individual commission for a nobleman, most probably Carl Wilhelm Ferdinand (succeeded his father in 1780) who had already made substantial purchases, for which he did not always pay very qickly, by 1774.
