Lot Essay

For a very similar vase in the Collezione De Ciccio in the Museo di Capodimonte see Elena Pelizzoni and Giovanna Zanchi, La maiolica dei Terchi (Florence 1982), p. 50, no. 29.

Bartolomeo Terchi (1691-after 1753) was born in Rome and worked at the San Quirico d'Orcia potteries from 1717 until 1728 with his brother, Antonio (Ferdinando Maria Campani also worked there before later working in Siena). He finally moved back to Rome in 1753.
