A Capodimonte (Carlo III) two-handled tureen and cover Circa 1755, blue fleur-de-lys mark
Of oval bombé form on a waisted oval foot, the handles formed as two foliage scrolls joined by a short foliage scroll, each side painted with wooded landscape vignettes with various fruit below a shaped gilt line rim, the domed cover with two similar vignettes about a pear finial with foliage terminals, within a shaped gilt line rim (wear and scratching to surface, tureen with chip to footrim, slight wear to gilding, cover with three restored small rim chips, the finial and branch replacements, wear to gilt rim)

Lot Essay
This kind of decoration, probably painted by Giacomo Nani, was usually deployed on pieces of smaller scale. The present lot is perhaps the largest object with this type of decoration.
