A Medieval 15th Century gold ring brooch,
the front engraved in six sections with rosettes and pointille decoration, the reverse with engraved legend in old French, "entir vostre suy par tout ma vie" (I am Holy yours for the whole of my life), the centre with concealed hinged pin.

This type of brooch was common throughout Medieval Europe and was normally used to fasten the V shaped vent of a tunic just below the neck. C.f. R.W. Lightbown. Mediaeval European jewellery Pub.
