A well engineered and presented 1/24th scale gas fired mainly brass model of the first Stirling Cycle hot air engine circa 1816,
modelled by R.Key with concentric vertically mounted cylinders, the power cylinder 1in. bore, finned brass cylinder block supported on four fluted columns, the piston rods connected to the crank through rocking levers and quadrants, the crankshaft with spoked flywheel and rope pulley supported on pierced 'A' frames, the brick chimney containing the gas tank and flow valve. Further details include stoker and barrow load of coal, chequer plate floor and hand railing finished in red and polished brightwork, wood plinth with plate embossed 'Stirling Hot-Air Engine circa 1816 Model engineered by Roy Key of Stoke-on-Trent' -- 10½ x 16¼in.
