signed Troughton & Simms London, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing, aluminium object glass surround, spider's-web adjusters, the eyepiece with rack and pinion vertical motion, the axis raised on twin A-frames, the 5-inch vertical circle with graduated bubble level, twin verniers and magnifiers, tangent-screw fine adjustment and clamp, raised on the horizontal plate, the enclosed silvered scale with twin verniers and magnifiers (one lens missing), with graduated cross- bubble, on three-screw tripod attachment, in the original mahogany case -- 14½in. (36.8cm.) wide
