A rare late 17th/early 18th Century four-bulb church sand-glass,
unsigned, the elongated bulbs united with wax covered with silk, cord-bound, fitted with fine white, grey and pale brown sand, the upper and lower brass plates with punched decoration, the upper and lower frieze united by slender brass barley-twist rectangular-section columns, the upper plate hinged and secured to the frieze by six hooks and eyes, mounted on a wrought-iron frame with handle and oak base, the frame -- 9½in. (24.1cm.) wide
