A 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound binocular microscope,
signed on the body-tubes John Browning London No. 273, with rack and pinion focusing, micrometer fine adjustment, the body-tubes located on a limb with prism, the vertical rack box mounted on the axis incorporating the mechanical stage, with sub-stage plano-concave mirror, on Y-shaped stand, with a supplementary case of objectives and other items, including a polariser, bull's-eye condenser and two additional eyepieces, all contained in a mahogany carrying case -- 18in. (45.7cm.) high
